Cocoa Butter & Rose Water Body Lotion

We all are aware of the benefits of cocoa butter and rose water for the skin. While the former is great to achieve smooth and deeply nourished skin, the latter is best to soothe and calm the skin, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and cooling properties. This homemade body lotion recipe is perfect for humid and sticky weather as it’s quick-absorbing as well as cooling.

  • 2 tablespoons beeswax
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons vitamin E oil
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa butter
  • ¾ cup rose water

Melt all your thick ingredients like beeswax, cocoa butter along with almond oil in a double boiler technique. A double boiler technique refers to placing a glass bowl on top of the other one which is exposed to direct flame and adding the product you wish to melt in the bowl above.

Once you see the ingredients behind to melt and mix, add vitamin E oil and take it off the flame in the next minute. Next, add rose water into a blender and as soon as you observe the water blending, slowly pour in the oil mixture. Once it emulsifies and blends, your creamy white homemade body lotion is ready.

Aloe Vera & Grapeseed Body Lotion

Aloe vera is a blessing for your skin, you have to admit that. Its cooling and soothing properties are capable of taking care of most skin (and heat-caused) concerns under the roof. Grapeseed oil is another gem of an ingredient that offers a bunch of benefits to the skin.

Start by combining aloe veravitamin E oil and essential oil in a small bowl for them to come at room temperature and mix well. Next, combine the beeswax and grapeseed oil in a bowl and place them in a pan full of boiling water. Keep stirring to avoid lumps while boiling and take it off the pan once the wax has melted completely. Once it cools down, combine the wax and aloe vera mixtures into a blender and blend until your smooth homemade body lotion is formed.

If you are hesitant about using beeswax in your homemade body lotion, you can opt for this recipe. This one is loaded with nourishing oils and butter like coconut oilshea butter and avocado oil that is perfect for extremely parched and dry skin. It’s great for the upcoming winters too. You can use any essential oil, or switch up the lavender one with cinnamon or ginger for that extra warmth.

  • 1/2 cup of shea butter
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup of avocado oil.
  • 3 tablespoons arrowroot powder
  • 10 drops of essential oil

Since there’s no beeswax here, the melting time reduces considerably. All the oils and butter have a quick melting tendency. So first, combine the coconut oil, avocado oil and shea butter in a container and place it on medium flame until they melt and liquify completely. Once that’s done, get that mixture off the flame and add 8 - 10 drops of any essential oil and give it a nice mix. Place it in the fridge until it solidifies a bit. Then add arrowroot powder and mix, your homemade body lotion is ready.

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 20 drops frankincense essential oil

Start by adding honey, coconut oil and shea butter to a container. Add vanilla extract and give it a quick mix. Next, let this mix begin to melt using the double boiler technique. Once everything is nicely mixed and blended, take it off the heat and place it aside to let it cool down and come to room temperature. Place this mix in a fridge to solidify. Once it’s converted in a solid state, add the frankincense essential oil and blend it with a hand blender. A soft, fluffy and whipped homemade body lotion is what you get.
