Where does your shea butter come from?

Every jar begins in Kperisi Village, northern Ghana, where our shea butter is handcrafted by a women's cooperative using skills passed down for generations. We buy fairly and directly, and every purchase supports women's livelihoods and their children's education.

What is the difference between refined and unrefined shea butter?

Unrefined (raw) shea butter keeps its natural vitamins A and E and its soft nutty aroma. Refining strips much of that goodness for a uniform look. We whip only pure, unrefined organic shea.

What is 'women's gold'?

Shea butter has long been called women's gold in West Africa because it is traditionally made by women and provides their income. It is the heart of everything we make.
