Why unrefined matters for your formulas

Refining bleaches and deodorizes shea for a neutral base, and strips much of the unsaponifiable fraction — the sterols, triterpenes and vitamin E that make shea more than a filler fat. Unrefined shea keeps it, which is why it is about 63% of the global shea market by revenue and the fastest-growing segment.
