Nothing but unrefined shea butter, whipped for texture. Our most basic product and the one everything else is built on: pure Kperisi shea, softly whipped so it spreads and absorbs quickly, restoring moisture and improving the look of fine lines for visibly smooth, balanced skin.

Made with unrefined shea only, never bleached or deodorized, so it keeps the unsaponifiable fraction that refining strips out. It is the ideal daily body butter to quench dry patches, balance oily profiles and comfort sensitive skin. No fragrance added.

Handcrafted in small batches in Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island. Every jar supports the women of the Tapko Widow's Group in Kperisi, Ghana, who have made our shea butter since 2003.

How do I use whipped shea butter?
Warm a pea-sized amount between your fingers and press into damp skin after a shower. It softens at skin temperature; a little covers a lot.

Does shea butter clog pores?
Shea butter is low on the comedogenic scale, generally rated 0 to 2 of 5. Use a small amount on the face; if your skin is very oily, keep it to the body.

Why does it smell smoky and vary in colour?
Because it is unrefined: the kernels are roasted over a fire and the butter is never bleached or deodorized. Colour ranges from ivory to yellow by harvest, and the scent fades on the skin within minutes.

How should I store it, and why did it go grainy?
Keep it below room temperature and out of the sun. Grains form when the butter melts and re-sets slowly; they are not spoilage and disappear on the skin.

Does it contain nuts?
Shea is botanically a tree nut but contains very little protein, so reactions are rare. Patch-test if you have a tree-nut allergy.
